Production of Heterotic Hybrid in Rohu (Labeo rohita) Through Strain Crossing

Abstract: As a genetic means of aquaculture development, hybridization can increase production quickly in fishes because of heterotic effect. At the backdrop of reports on the decline of growth and reproduction of the hatchery population of Labeo rohita in Bangladesh, a 3 months study was undertaken to see the heterotic effect by intra-specific crossing among the Padma, Jamuna and Hatchery strains of rohu. Six reciprocal crosses and 3 pure crosses were obtained. The fertilization and hatching rates of the developing embryos were found better in the parental crosses than the reciprocal intra-specific hybrids. The growth performance of reciprocal crosses showed significant differences (P< 0.05) over the parental crosses. The best growth performance was observed in Padma ? X Jamuna ? hybrids; providing 72% positive heterosis. Since the growth rate of strain crossed hybrids were reasonably high, this technique can be profitably applied for the production of fast growing seed to ensure higher fish production and more profit. Business Intelligence: A Rapidly Growing Option through Web Mining

Abstract: The World Wide Web is a popular and interactive medium to distribute information in this scenario. The web is huge, diverse, ever changing, widely disseminated global information service center. We are familiar with terms like e-commerce, e-governance, e-market, e-finance, e-learning, e-banking etc. for an organization it is new challenge to maintain direct contact with customers because of the rapid growth in e-commerce, e-publishing and electronic service delivery. To deal with this there is need of intelligent marketing strategies and CRM (customer relationship management) i.e. the effective way of integrating enterprise applications in real time. Web mining is the vast field that helps to understand various concepts of different fields. Web usage mining techniques are attempted to reason about different materialized issues of Business Intelligence which include marketing expertise as domain knowledge and are specifically designed for electronic commerce purposes. To this end, the chapter provides an introduction to the field of Web mining and examines existing as well as potential Web mining applications applicable for different business function, like marketing, human resources, and fiscal administration. Suggestions for improving information technology infrastructure are made, which can help businesses interested in Web mining hit the ground running.

Abstract: English Criminal law provides a range of offences that recognizes the sanctity of life by prohibiting the unlawful killing of a human being. The generic term “homicide” covers offences such as murder, manslaughter and causing death by dangerous driving. What all homicides have in common is the unlawful killing of a human being; what distinguishes them is either the state of mind of the defendant who has caused death, or the defense available. This article shall critically analyze the common law definition of murder in various criminal homicide cases to find out if any concrete common law definition could be established. It will be seen throughout this article that though criminal law throws up many exceptions to this general proportion, there is no fixed common law definition of murder. This article shall prompt the question whether the legislature should rethink the forms of criminal homicide and the judiciary reconsiders some of the definitions of the mens rea words produced in recent years.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse the evolution of international economic law and its fundamental principles. It will examine the current framework of international economic law and the efforts made to regulate international economic relations between states as part of an attempt to establish a global order. It will begin by surveying efforts made prior to the establishment of the UN, and will then focus on developments that have taken place since the establishment of the UN. The objective of the article is to provide a comprehensive and critical appraisal of the law developed to govern economic relations between different states, and between states and private economic actors such as multinational enterprises.

Role of Local Context in the Success of Farmer Collectives: A Review

Abstract: Farmer collective (FC) history in developing countries is a mixed one. Different models of FC are adopted, but many farmers have not been part of collectives, and the established collectives have been facing various challenges such as marginalization of weak, external interference and poor competitiveness. This review focuses on the understanding the role of various factors influencing the FC performance and success. The article critically examines the evidence provided regarding the socio-economic-environmental characteristics of the local area, collective characteristics, performance characteristics and externalities in determining FC success. The main focus is on relevance of a local system in determining FC success. The article concludes that while FC success is mixed, incorporation of local system characteristics during the FC establishment and functioning could ensure FC success. However, it is important that external agents need to co-align their interests with the local context such that FC becomes successful both for local system intrinsic goals and national development goals
